Support Coordinator

Footsteps Community Services is seeking experienced Support Coordinator to join our team.

A day in this role includes:

  • Working with a caseload to implement your clients NDIS plans.
  • Ensuring that all operational and administrative requirements are completed including regular reporting and records maintenance.
  • Engaging clients in developing professional and trusting relationships.
  • Promoting the clients right to choose and control by enabling them to have direct input in how their services are delivered within their identified plan.
  • Engaging stakeholders to undertake services as per your clients’ requests.
  • Maintaining productive working relationships with stakeholders to ensure clients’ needs are met throughout the life of the plan.

You will need to show competency in the following areas:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in a discipline such as Psychology, Occupational Therapy,
  • Social Work, other allied health, social or health science profession.
  • A sound understanding of the disability sector.
  • Proven experience working with people with disability and/or mental illness.
  • Detailed knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • The ability to adapt and respond to work demands.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic records and data management tools.
  • Hold a current motor vehicle, licence and fully comprehensive insurance.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a valid First Aid and CPR | NDIS Worker  Screening card |Blue Card | History Check prior to commencement of employment.
  • Have good interpersonal and networking skills
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Access to your own reliable vehicle.

Successful candidates must provide a copy of their CV and a covering letter which clearly

  1. Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Disability, Counselling, or a
    related human services discipline.
  2. Significant experience working with disadvantaged people, ideally including
    Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and / or ex-offenders.
  3. NDIS professional, who are registered Behaviour Support Practitioner with the
    NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission.
  4. Proven experience in working with NDIS participants to achieve their goals through
    the coordination of their NDIS plans.
  5. Experience of working in stakeholder partnerships.

Community Outreach Therapist

Footsteps Community Services is seeking registered Counsellors, Psychologists, Social Workers, that are experienced in counselling to join our friendly multidisciplinary team. 

We have positions available in Ipswich / Logan / Jimboomba / Brisbane / Gold Coast, and Toowoomba.

Footsteps CS is a family owned and run organisation, we are recruiting therapists that can support our clients to achieve their desired goals. 

Our clients range from 2 – 94 years of age. We support people with many different diagnoses including but not limited to ASD, ABI, ID, DID, Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety, and many more. At Footsteps CS we acknowledge the diagnosis as only one small part of the individual, our team help each client to develop the skills to manage their diagnosis so they can live a happy and hopeful future. 

As a member of our team, you will provide, contemporary, evidence based therapeutic interventions and support services to clients. Key aspect of your role is to view the clients beyond the labelled condition, thus creating an opportunity for growth by turning DISABILITY into ABILITY.

Full-time or part-time opportunities available.

A day in this role may include:

  • Provide professional counselling to children, young people, adults and their families.
  • Provide support and education to clients’ non-offending family members.
  • Conduct assessments with clients at the beginning and completion of therapy.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recordings of sessions through case notes.
  • Compile concise and professional reports when required to external bodies, such as the NDIS, Department of Child Safety Youth and Women, Courts and Police.
  • Attend regular supervision and counselling meetings.

You will need to show competency in the following areas:

  • Experience in working with children
  • Experience in trauma counselling (or looking to gain this experience)
  • Proficient in individual counselling and family support
  • Sound understanding of the effects of child sexual assault on individual, family, interpersonal and societal levels
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • The ability to adapt and respond to work demands.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic records and data management tools.

To be considered you MUST have the following, please do not apply if you have not completed your studies.    

  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling/Psychology/Occupational Therapy/Social Work/Speech Pathology.
  • Registered with your Governing body.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Current working with Children. (Blue Card)
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • A cleared worker screening check. (NDIS)
  • A valid and unrestricted QLD drivers license.
  • Access to your own reliable vehicle.
  • Public liability and indemnity insurance.

Advantageous

  • Experience in support/youth work.
  • An understanding of the biopsychosocial model.
  • Familiarity with the adverse childhood experiences study. (ACE’s)
  • An understanding of practice positive behaviour support, evidence-based approaches and trauma informed practice an advantage.
