Early Childhood Intervention (ECI)

Little steps. Share goals. One connected team.

Helping children learn, participate, and thrive through coordinated, family-centred early childhood intervention.

Footsteps delivers Early Childhood Intervention virtually Australia-wide. For in-person delivery in South East Queensland and surrounding areas, kindly contact us by submitting an enquiry.

Early childhood intervention that works with your family

Footsteps support young children with developmental delays or disability and the people who care for them. We focus on everyday participation, strengths, play, and practical strategies that families can use beyond appointments. Our support is tailored to each child and family.

One ECI Coordinator, one multidisciplinary team

Your Footsteps ECI Coordinator is your family’s dedicated point of contact. Behind them is a multidisciplinary team that may include Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) practitioners, therapists, educators, and social workers, according to your child’s needs. Your coordinator helps organise communication and align support around shared goals, while each professional contributes their own expertise.

What makes our approach different

Family-centred:
your knowledge, priorities, culture and choices guide the work
Daily life focus:
support connects to
play, mealtimes, getting ready, childcare and community activities
Coordinated:
relevant professionals work towards common goals instead of operating in isolation
Capacity-building:
we support parents and caregivers with strategies they can use with confidence
Outcome-focused:
goals and progress are reviewed together and support adapts over time

Frequently asked questions

Not necessarily. Your ECI Coordinator helps bring relevant input together and the team works with you to decide what is useful.

Where appropriate and with your consent, we can collaborate with educators and others important to your child.

Yes. Coaching and family participation are central to the model.

Not always to seek guidance or early connections; eligibility for NDIS-funded services depends on the applicable criteria and plan.

Registered NDIS provider

Footsteps is a registered NDIS provider, approved by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to deliver therapy services to NDIS participants, including those with NDIA-managed funding. We are here to support you in preparing for, understanding, and navigating the NDIS to ensure you get the most out of your plan.

The NDIS early childhood approach supports children younger than nine with developmental delay or disability. Children may be able to access early connections without becoming NDIS participants. Footsteps delivers provider services rather than the NDIA early childhood partner function. We discuss the child’s current NDIS plan, relevant funding and service suitability before commencing; age alone does not guarantee funded ECI supports.
